Influencer Sparks Outrage with “Too Pretty to Work” Claim

A social media influencer has ignited a firestorm online after claiming that she’s “too pretty” to work a traditional 9-to-5 job. Lucy Welcher, a 20-year-old TikTok star with nearly 20 million likes, shared a video that has been met with widespread criticism and outrage.

In the nine-second clip, Welcher is seen laughing and saying, “I do not want to work for the rest of my life. Does it look like I want to get up at 6 a.m. every f**king day for the next 60 years? No! I’m too pretty for that!” The video was quickly slammed by viewers, who accused Welcher of being “lazy,” “entitled,” and “shallow.”

One commenter wrote, “Boy I wish I had your confidence, the same confidence to feel like I’m better looking than I actually am. God you people are so shallow and in love with yourselves.” Another added, “Someone’s entitled. I hope you get humbled girl, you need it. Looks have nothing to do with working and it’s sad you have that mentality.”

Welcher responded to the backlash by deleting the original video and sharing a new post, where she claimed that people had failed to see the humor in her original comment. She also took the opportunity to set the record straight on some online rumors, denying that she owns luxury cars or earns a six-figure income.

However, Welcher wasn’t done yet. Days later, she shared a “remake” of the original video, where she repeated the same script and sparked a new wave of comments. This time, however, the majority of viewers rallied behind her, understanding that her original comment was intended as a joke.

As the debate continues, one thing is clear: Welcher’s comment has sparked a wider conversation about the nature of work, beauty, and entitlement. While some have praised her for speaking her mind, others have criticized her for perpetuating a shallow and entitled attitude. What do you think?
