New Study Reveals Italy as the Most Romantic Country, US Not in Top Ten

When asked which nationality makes the best lover, most people picked Italy, according to a survey of 2,000 participants. Italians were named by 21% as the most passionate, beating out well-known romantic stereotypes like the French or Spanish.

Spain and Greece followed with 15% and 14%. Brazil, France, Portugal, and Sweden also ranked highly. Australia, the UK, and Germany rounded out the top ten, but the US was missing from the list, probably included in a lower “other” category.

Sylvia Linzalone from Wisp dating app explained that Mediterranean men’s confidence and charm make them stand out. “Romance is part of the culture in Italy and Spain,” she said. She also noted that British men’s more reserved style might explain their lower ranking.

Most memorable romances happened during vacations, with over a third of respondents saying their best fling was abroad. One woman shared how a romantic experience in Naples changed her views on British men.
