Baby’s Face Injured During Emergency C-Section, Needs 13 Stitches

Reazjhana Williams from Denver planned a natural birth, but when her baby’s heartbeat disappeared, doctors performed an emergency C-section. Her newborn daughter, Kyanni, arrived with a severe facial injury—a deep laceration that required 13 stitches.

Instead of holding her baby immediately, Reazjhana had to entrust Kyanni to a plastic surgeon. The injury was caused by the baby’s head being very close to the placenta wall during delivery, leading to the cut.

The medical team was horrified by the damage and acted quickly to repair it. The family is deeply affected by the incident and the baby’s discomfort.

Denver Health said that while such injuries can happen during emergency C-sections, their priority is always the safety of mother and child. A GoFundMe has been set up to support the family with medical costs and has raised over $11,000 so far.
