Marina Abramović, a Serbian artist famous for her boundary-breaking performances, recently opened up about a striking collaboration with fashion designer Riccardo Tisci. In the piece called ‘Contract,’ she allowed Tisci to “suck her t**” as part of their artistic expression.
On Massimo Dutti’s YouTube channel, Abramović explained how the idea came about. She asked Tisci if fashion really draws from art, and when he said yes, she declared she would use her body as art, and he would perform the act.
Though it was challenging, she considered it a strong statement in fashion.
Her work includes the intense 1974 performance ‘Rhythm 0,’ where she invited the public to interact with her body using various objects, some dangerous. She accepted full responsibility and was prepared to die, as she told The Guardian in 2014, feeling lucky to have survived.
