After Jessica managed to escape, she collapsed and was unresponsive. Her family said the manager pulled Jessica’s hair and attempted to erase security footage before leaving the store on a bike. Police responded to the scene and found Jessica unconscious. She was taken to the hospital, but her brain had suffered severe oxygen deprivation, and she was declared brain-dead.
Jessica’s family made the painful choice to take her off life support after consulting with doctors. They were present with her in her final moments. The LAPD is treating the case as a homicide and has obtained video evidence, though it has not been released. No arrests have been made yet.
