Betrayal and Revenge

My husband Liam’s birthday was approaching, and I was excited to plan a surprise for him. But he dropped a bombshell – he had an urgent business trip and would be away for the weekend. I was disappointed, but I understood the importance of his job. Or so I thought.

The night before his birthday, Liam left for the airport, and I spent the next day running errands with my mom. We were out shopping for a baby shower gift when my mom spotted something that made my world crumble. Through a restaurant window, I saw Liam and my best friend Mandy sitting impossibly close, laughing and kissing.

My mom’s eyes widened in shock, and she quickly steered me away from the scene. “Don’t confront them now,” she whispered. “I’ve got a plan.” We went to a nearby salad bar, and my mom discreetly took out her phone and showed me the photos she had taken of the cheating couple.

Her plan was brilliant. We would invite Mandy and her husband Steve over for dinner, and I would pretend to be pregnant with Steve’s child. The goal was to expose Mandy and Liam’s affair and make them pay for their betrayal. My mom handed me a pregnancy test with a fake positive result and two nanny cams to set up in the living room.

The night of the dinner party arrived, and Mandy and Steve came over. I played the perfect host, all the while seething with anger. When I announced that I was pregnant with Steve’s child, the room fell silent. Mandy’s smile faltered, and Liam’s eyes widened in shock.

But the real bombshell came when I revealed that there was no baby and that I had been playing a trick on them. I pulled out my phone and showed Steve the footage of Mandy and Liam’s affair, captured by the nanny cams. Steve’s eyes turned cold, and he turned to Mandy. “You’re leaving me with nothing,” he said, his voice firm. “Our prenup clearly states that you’ll get nothing if you cheat.”

Liam followed Mandy out, furious and defeated. My mom had reminded me that our prenup had a similar clause, and I would be able to keep most of the assets. I felt a sense of justice, knowing that they would both pay for their betrayal. As I watched them leave, I realized that sometimes, revenge can be sweet.
