Rodent Goes Viral After Accidental Cannabis Overdose

Farmers often struggle with pests that damage their crops, but one particular rodent in New Brunswick, Canada, took an unexpected turn after feasting on cannabis leaves. The mouse, discovered lying flat on its back in the middle of a cannabis field, appeared completely dazed from its indulgence.

Colin Sullivan, the farm owner, had been observing the mouse helping itself to the leaves for two days. Photos captured the tiny creature munching away before it eventually passed out on top of its makeshift leaf pile. Concerned for its well-being, Sullivan placed the mouse in a cage to allow it to recover safely.

The unintentional detox lasted six days, during which Sullivan humorously chronicled the rodent’s “rehab” journey. Initially, the mouse suffered from an upset stomach and an intense craving for more cannabis. However, he gradually reduced its intake to just one leaf a day, helping it ease out of its altered state. When the time came, Sullivan released the mouse back into the wild, joking that it had successfully completed its “twelve-step program.”

The entertaining story quickly gained traction online, with Sullivan’s Facebook posts receiving hundreds of thousands of shares and comments. People from all over the world joined in with witty remarks, with many playfully imagining the mouse’s experience as a wild adventure. Some joked about the withdrawal process, while others commended Sullivan for his lighthearted approach to the situation.

Amidst the humor, Sullivan also took the opportunity to share a heartfelt message about his own journey to sobriety. He credited his wife for her unwavering support, touching many readers who initially followed the story for laughs but stayed for his inspiring words.

Cannabis has been legal in Canada since 2018, and each province enforces its own regulations. In New Brunswick, residents must be 19 or older to purchase cannabis from licensed retailers, and public consumption is restricted. The province remains committed to promoting responsible use while balancing economic opportunities within the industry.
