When nine-year-old Emma Edwards was diagnosed with a severe form of leukemia, her parents faced the unthinkable news that her illness was untreatable. Wanting to give Emma a moment to cherish, they worked with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the community to organize a wedding with her school sweetheart, DJ.

Emma and DJ had dreamed of getting married since they were younger, even holding a pretend wedding at school that wasn’t allowed. Finally, on June 29, 2023, Emma was wheeled down the aisle in a stunning purple dress by her father. Surrounded by loved ones, they exchanged rings and promises in a touching ceremony, their love shining through Emma’s illness.

Emma’s wedding was a bright spot in her difficult journey. Sadly, she passed away shortly after, on July 11. Her family cherishes the memory of her courage, laughter, and love. Emma’s story highlights the importance of hope and making beautiful memories, even when time is limited.
