Iran’s Missile Strike Damages US Base in Qatar, Pentagon Responds

Tensions between the US and Iran intensified after Iran launched a missile attack on the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar on June 23, in response to US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. The Pentagon has confirmed that one missile hit the base, causing limited damage.

Satellite images reveal that a geodesic dome housing secure communication systems was destroyed. The dome was clearly visible before the attack but disappeared in images taken after. Nearby buildings also showed signs of damage.

Despite the strike, Pentagon officials assured that the base remains fully operational and capable of supporting US and Qatari security efforts in the region. The missile barrage was largely intercepted by air defense systems, minimizing casualties and damage.

Iran’s attack was part of a series of retaliations following US military actions against Iran’s nuclear program. While Iranian officials claimed the strike cut off communications, the US maintains that the base continues its mission without interruption.
