Kaylee Goncalves’ parents have revealed painful details of their daughter’s last moments and addressed criticism after Bryan Kohberger pleaded guilty to killing four University of Idaho students.
Kohberger admitted to the murders of Kaylee, Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, and Madison Mogen in November 2022. He avoided the death penalty by accepting a plea deal, facing life sentences without parole and a burglary charge.
On their family Facebook page, Kaylee’s parents expressed anger that Kohberger would not be sentenced to death. They responded to those who believe life imprisonment is enough, highlighting the brutality of Kaylee’s death.
They stated: “He doesn’t deserve life in prison. He deserved death row. If your daughter was stabbed many times and beaten while fighting, what would you want? Justice? Vengeance? Maybe both.”
They also shared the pain of being judged by those who haven’t lived their experience.
The family added: “BK feared death but not killing. He got a plea deal; Kaylee got none. The state showed BK mercy, but BK showed Kaylee none.”
Their message is a powerful reminder of the lasting pain and difficult emotions following such a tragedy.
