Krystal Maeyke, a 39-year-old mom from Australia, is raising awareness about skin cancer after a small pink mark on her forehead, first thought to be a mosquito bite, turned out to be stage four metastatic bowel cancer. Diagnosed in 2023, Krystal initially ignored sharp stomach pains, assuming they were caused by a food allergy.
Despite a healthy lifestyle, the pain worsened, and doctors initially dismissed her concerns. She also experienced night sweats, which she blamed on summer heat. After a biopsy, she received the devastating diagnosis.
Krystal endured six weeks of painful treatment and says the experience has affected her mental health. She wants others to pay attention to their bodies and protect their skin, especially during sunny months.
