When I returned home from a work trip, I was met with an unexpected and unsettling sight. My house was completely empty, with not a single piece of furniture or personal item in sight. As I waited for the police to arrive, I noticed a faint muddy footprint near the entryway. It looked familiar, and I soon realized it matched the boots I had given my mother-in-law, Linda, for her birthday. I felt a surge of anger and suspicion. Could she be involved in this?

The police eventually arrived and confirmed that the furniture and belongings were mine. They told Linda and Greg that they would have to return the items and face charges. Greg’s demeanor changed, and he became more humble. I, however, had made up my mind. I told him that our marriage was over and that I would be filing for divorce.
