As I settled into my seat on the plane, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief wash over me. I was headed home after visiting my mother, and I was looking forward to getting back to my normal routine. But little did I know, my seatmate would change everything.
The woman sitting next to me introduced herself as Clara, and it wasn’t until she mentioned my husband’s name that I realized who she was. Clara was Oscar’s ex-wife, and I had heard stories about their past. But nothing could have prepared me for the conversation that followed.

She told me about the house we lived in, which she claimed was designed by her and Oscar during their marriage. I was stunned. I had no idea that Oscar was still in contact with his ex-wife, or that he had such a deep history with her. I felt like my whole world was turned upside down. The more Clara talked, the more I realized that I didn’t know my husband as well as I thought I did.
As the plane landed, Clara and I parted ways, but the conversation lingered in my mind. I couldn’t shake off the feeling that my marriage was built on shaky ground. When I got home, I knew I had to confront Oscar about what Clara had told me.
