Names of Children Lost in Texas Camp Flood Confirmed by Families

In the wake of the devastating flash floods at Camp Mystic, Texas, families have revealed the names of children who died in the tragedy. The floods, ongoing since July 4, have caused major damage and claimed 82 lives.

Camp Mystic, a Christian girls’ camp founded in 1926, had about 750 campers when the floods struck, according to Governor Greg Abbott.

Confirmed victims include Renee Smajstrla, Sarah Marsh, Janie Hunt, and close friends Eloise Peck and Lila Bonner. Renee’s family thanked those involved in the search, Sarah’s grandmother shared touching memories, and Eloise and Lila’s families requested privacy. Janie’s mother expressed deep grief, but noted that several cousins at the camp are safe.

Authorities are still searching for missing campers as the community grieves and rallies together in support.
