Hearing Set for Emily Willis’ Family in Lawsuit Against Rehab Center

Emily Willis, formerly known as Litzy Lara Banuelos, is at the heart of a lawsuit against Summit Malibu following serious health issues during her treatment for ketamine addiction. The 26-year-old’s mother alleges that staff ignored signs of Emily’s decline, which led to cardiac arrest and permanent disability.

The family accuses the rehab center of neglect and abuse, citing Emily’s locked-in syndrome diagnosis. The court initially found the complaint lacked enough detail about the rehab’s duty of care, but after revisions, a hearing has been scheduled for September 23, 2025.
